OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD

Hemyock is the largest village in the Blackdown Hills (AONB). It is situated in a quiet, rural setting and is surrounded by picturesque scenery offering an array of tranquil countryside landscape with valleys, springs, and woodland.

As such, it is a fabulous area to enjoy walking, rambling, cycling and horse-riding, and Wellington Monument is just 5 minutes drive away. The Wellington Monument is a 175-foot-high triangular obelisk located on a point of the Blackdown Hills, 3km south of Wellington in the English county of Somerset. It is a grade II* listed building and is the tallest three-sided obelisk in the world. Views from here are arguably the best in the county.

From Hamburg Hill fort to Otterford the area of outstanding natural beauty is a top spot to see Bluebells in bloom. Adcombe Wood on the Blackdown Hills near Wellington deserves a particular mention.

There are lots of delightful country pubs nearby, which serve home cooked food and guest ales. Our nearest pub, The Catherine Wheel in Hemyock is around a 15 minute walk down the hill. Alternatively, check out The Culm Valley Inn in Culmstock, The York Inn in Churchinford, The Holman Clavel in Culmhead or The Candlelight Inn near Chard, all within a short drive away.
